The Dukan diet is a high-protein program that is very popular to those who want to learn how to lose weight. During the first phase of the diet or the Attack Phase, you have to spend several days eating nothing but foods that are rich in protein. This type of diet can be very challenging to those who are fond of eating foods that contain high amount of carbohydrates. It may be hard for them to stick to this high protein diet, especially if they are not disciplined enough and does not have enough motivation.
If you love eating meat, then there are lots of options available for you in the Dukan diet. During the first phase, you can consume veal, beef, ostrich, chicken, seafood, fish, eggs, low fat dairy products and other rich sources of protein. These are just some of the food options available for you during the attack phase.
The Dukan diet is also very challenging for vegetarians as they cannot eat meat and almost all of them are not eating fish and seafood as well. If that is the case, then eggs and dairy products are the only available food options for them and these will be the only basis of their daily menu during the first phase. Aside from that, protein-rich foods that are based on regular plans are restricted and so they cannot resort to the consumption of it as well. However, if you are creative enough, then you can come up with various recipes that include eggs and low fat dairy products alone.
Since the plant-based protein sources are limited in the Dukan diet, this may not be suitable for vegans and they cannot eat dairy products and eggs. Vegans may have a hard time finding a protein source that will suit the diet and that they can consume at the same time. Even if they do, the diet may become very expensive for them. You should know that this type of diet was not meant for vegans and vegetarians, and you probably know the reason why.
If you can go through a week or more consuming protein-rich foods alone and you can avoid consuming foods with carbohydrates, then it will be a lot easier for you to comply with the rules of the Dukan diet plan. Take note that the final decision is still up to you. If you think you are well-disciplined and motivated, then the Dukan diet is definitely for you.
