It is wise to purchase things using cash. In this way you will have a limit depending on the amount of cash you have on hand. It is smart to have only one credit card but be certain that you will only use it during emergency.
Lastly, it is better to negotiate rather than consolidating with a single loan. You can negotiate with your creditors and check repayment programs they can offer to you. With negotiation you will be given better option compared to consolidation.
